Salena kept the tough grin locked on her face, knowing not to show weakness, especially in front of a Hufflepuff. With teeth gritted, Salena stepped dangerously close to the Hufflepuff girl, sitting there, staring in Salena's eyes. Looking away for only a moment, Salena gave the male Hufflepuff the dirtiest look she's ever thrown. These two were mistepping their boundries, and they knew better than to mess with two Slythers, granted, Brody had started it, but she didn't care, she was going to end this.
For now, Salena simply glared into Anna's eyes, wondering what she would do next, thinking of ways to make Anna feel even more uncomfortable than she probably already was. Of course, Salena knew that this was all simply an act, a show put on for the yes of Brody, so that he could tell everyone about what she was doing. Salena looked toward Brody with a concerned look about what the pair would do next.

Momentarily taken aback by the Hufflepuff's step closer, Brody closed his mouth as she hissed an order in his ear, slight frown upon his face at her words. This frown turned into a thoughtful look, as he suppressed the smile hidden behind his pondering demeanour, and began to twirl his wand, deep in consideration.
'I am going to lower my wand, and leave you alone?' he sneered, repeating the words in a mechanic voice and nodding slowly as if seriously considering the order. He glanced at Salena, in time to see her throw an admirable filthy look in the Hufflepuff's direction, and his tongue trailed his lip in apparent pride of his equally defiant housemate. 'Miss Skaggs, tell me,' he said, turning his back on the two Hufflepuffs in insolence, and appearing to forget about them. 'Do you fancy taking orders from a Hufflepuff?' He raised an eyebrow and chuckled darkly, eyes darting over Anna and Benjamin as he calculated their stances.
Benjamin looked nervous; a notion which made Brody smile. Though he'd love to curse him first, he glanced at Anna and saw that she looked calm, prepared. He tilted his head as he regarded her, waited till he caught her gaze and winked insolently. 'Miss Michaels, your boyfriend here isn't doing a great job of defending you,' he chuckled, closing the final gap between them so their bodies were practically touching as he loomed over her. He sighed inwardly, knowing it would be foolish to make the first move, and instead brought his twirling wand to an abrupt halt on the prefect's neck, smirking dangerously as he traced her jawbone. 'Tag,' he muttered softly, 'you're it.'

Seeing Selena glare at her, Anna raised an eyebrow, amused, mocking half-smile tugging at her lips, although no hint happiness shined in her eyes. She was not as comfortable as her calm exterior portrayed. Internally her mind was reeling, thinking of what she would actually do if it came down to it, praying it wouldn't. And Selena's stink eye didn't intimate her in the slightest. In fact, the prefect didn't acknowledge the other witch at all.
Anna held her breath for a moment as the Slytherin closed the remaining space between them. It made her totally uncomfortable, not that she would let him in on that fact. Seeing the wink he sent her she bravely piped up, "Is there something wrong with your eye, Mr. Armsworth? I thought I saw it twitch." A hint of a smile flashed in her eyes, making them twinkle slightly.
"Miss Michaels, your boyfriend here isn't doing a great job of defending you."
The Hufflepuff knew that he was attempting to provoke her and she was not going to fall for it. Although Benjamin was not her boyfriend the boy's words did not bother her, as he clearly hoped it would. She stood as still as a statue, hardly daring to breathe, although seeing Brody toy with his wand, her hand reached for her own.
As the Slytherin's wand touched her neck, she brought her own up and knocked his away from her. She knew she gave the boy ammunition against her, by reacting, but she could not help it. It would not do anything if he actually cast a spell, but the wood against her skin made her feel vulnerable. Plus there was no way that he could miss at that range. "I am not here to play games Mr. Armsworth," she replied coldly, taking a breath and a step back simultaneously, never lowering her wand.

(ooc; sorry it's delayed. i nearly forgot, but josh reminded me today, so i figured i'd get to it.)
Benjamin caught the look Selena gave him and couldn't help but take a step back when his eyes met her. The last time a Slytherin looked at him like that during his third year, it didn't end pretty and he didn't want a repeat of what had happened. He tried to avoid looking at Selena again. Sure, Brody intimidated him more, but there was no telling what the female was capable of. And, if truth-be-told, Benjamin wasn't willing to find out.
When the male Slytherin spoke, Benjamin looked instantly in his direction. It was a bad habit of his to meet the gaze of someone who was speaking. One that he'd long ago decided it would be better if he broke. However, he had never broken it. He frowned as Brody spoke of taking orders. It seemed that Brody wasn't doing as well a job at intimidating Anna, that made the Hufflepuff a little calmer.
As soon as he heard Anna speak, Benjamin couldn't help but crack a smile, wondering what Brody's reaction would be to her words. If he knew Slytherins (and, he didn't, but he'd had run-ins with quite a few of them in his past) he knew that they usually didn't throw the first move- unless you said the absolutely wrong thing (and that wrong thing differed greatly between Slytherins), Benjamin was sure a comment about a twitching eye wouldn't set a Slytherin off- at least, he hoped it wouldn't because that smile still remained, almost daring to turn into a chuckle.
(ooc; didn't know what to say xD this post was... basically a reaction to everyone elses posts, and since no one really spoke to him, I didn't have anything to say. literally.)
Selena kept the glare focused in on Anna. Anna was really a sweet girl, and Selena had no idea why she was doing this right now, it wasn't her place. Still, Selena didn't want to back down. All this was, however, was a staring battle. Anna and Benji wouldn't start anything, and Selena and Brody wouldn't either, so in reality, what were they doing in the first place, staring each other down. Selena heard the comment about Brody's so called twitch, but Selena knew that Brody would have a great comeback to that.
Selena was getting extremely bored, and unless something happened rather quickly, she was thinking about leaving.

Hearing the Hufflepuff taunt him, Brody forced a stiff laugh, as his smirk twisted into something sadistic, and he towered over her a little more, posture remaining stiff and straight backed.
'It's a condition, unfortunately,' he shook his head in mock sorrow, eyes refusing to remove themselves from hers as he spoke directly to her, ignoring the presence of the other two for a few seconds. 'It twitches in the presence of Mudbloods, Miss Michaels,' he chuckled in a low whisper, jerking his head towards the muggle born boy behind them, and raising an eyebrow at Anna as if judging her to be one too. He knew she wouldn't be one to judge on blood status, and enjoyed the notion of toying with her patience as he awaited a reaction.
His smirk broadened as he regarded her slap his wand away, and he clutched it to prevent it from flying across the chamber, as she spoke in a controlled voice. 'Surely,' he probed gently, his voice full of curiosity as his eyes flickered across her face. 'There's more in that head than the exterior would initially reveal?' He was no longer speaking to her, but glancing at Selena for her reaction to his words, to see if she would agree. 'Games are, after all, the best way to get to know someone truly.' He twirled his wand once between his fingers and added: 'Our sort of games, anyhow.'
Glancing over Anna's shoulder, he saw the Hufflepuff boy lock eyes with him, and a sneer made its way onto his face at the smile he was pulling. He looked over to Selena and raised an eyebrow briefly to check whether she was in, 'I do so love games.' He nodded at her, briefly warning her of his intentions, speaking two words, as he raised his wand rapidly. 'Let's play.'
His wand was first aimed at the Hufflepuff boy; a simple Jelly Legs jinx to catch him offguard, as Brody flicked it lazily, smirking at Selena and offering a small wink as the atmosphere suddenly got more dangerous; exciting. Hoping Selena would take over the duel with the Hufflepuff boy, he turned it upon Anna, allowing it to rest lightly in his hand as he merely shot sparks at the girl, and awaited her reaction with a low chuckle. 'Looks like he needs another player on his team, Miss Michaels.' He taunted lightly, curls of hair falling before his eyes as he froze, awaiting her move.
((OOC: Yes, I can. And I am glad you did, we were not going anywhere.))
At Brody's mention of mudbloods, Anna's face grew hot. There was no reason to judge someone based on their blood or family history. She knew of Benjamin's blood status, but like most other Hufflepuffs and any decent person, she could care less. In fact, her own grandmother was a muggle, and one of the sweetest people she had ever met in her life. Not that she would enlighten Brody to that fact.
The girl's brown eyes widened as Brody cast a Jelly-Legs Jinx on Benjamin. She knew the situation was not going as well as she would have wished, but she had hoped against hope that it would just come down to a verbal battle, rather a duel in the hallway. And Anna would have none of it. Without thinking she lifted her wand, putting a shield charm around herself as her cousin had taught her to do.
The prefect could take points away, but she figured when spells were being thrown would not be the most opportune time. Trying to resolve the situation she flicked her want out and as calmly as possibly said, " Petrificus Totalus."

Benjamin listened to Brody speak, nearly forgetting that Selena was even there. The smile was completely gone at the mention of Mudbloods. He would never understand why it always came to that, no matter how hard he tried. And, in fact, sometimes, because of it, he found himself wishing he would've completely disregarded both letters from Hogwarts that he'd received when he was eleven and he hated himself when he did that. Because, despite the nasty Slytherins like Brody, and the rumors of a new Dark Lord (who obviously didn't care much for Muggle borns, either), he loved the world he'd been asked to join. And he didn't see why they had to put a damper on that.
And Benjamin certainly didn't like the way Brody was speaking of games. Benjamin knew the kind of games Slytherin students liked to play. He'd been a victim of them too many times before... and he wasn't that great at duels... and he wouldn't forgive himself if Anna got hurt because of it. He didn't imagine these Slytherins were horrible duelists. Especially that Brody. He'd heard the rumors surrounding him... and if there were any truth to them, he couldn't imagine the things he'd learned... the things he'd experienced. He wasn't too sure about Selena, but he'd heard she could hold herself pretty well. But, he, by far, was no duelist.
As the spell was about to hit him, Benjamin moved based on instinct... and instinct can do some amazing things sometimes. Though he sometimes found it hard to produce a good protection spell, at the yell of "Protego!" he was surprised to see one fly up. That was a spell he didn't want to get hit with. As he watched the shield do his job, he found his heart suddenly racing. He wasn't exactly sure what to do next... dueling wasn't his best strength. "Expelliarmus!" he shouted, waving his wand in Brody's direction. After he'd cast the spell, he glanced at Selena, hoping against hope that she wouldn't make a move as well. Even though he knew it was a stupid thing to hope.
Selena knew that something big was coming, and she knew that it was going to be fun for her and Brody. While it was true that Slytherins normally started fights, but it was definitly a fact that Slytherins ended the fights. There wasn't any doubt in Selena's mind that the two of them would be fine, Selena was a great duelist, as was Brody. Selena had never dueled with either of the two, but she knew that Anna was likely to be good. Anna had an aura about her that Selena really respected, so Selena wouldn't duel her in this case. Selena knew that she would go to Benjamin when he started in.
Once Brody made the first move, Selena brought her wand up to the ready, knowing that she would fight if Ben did anything. She saw Anna raise her wand and perform a curse, but Selena knew that Brody could handle that spell, but then Ben came at Brody. Selena casted a protection behind Brody so that he wouldn't be hit. "Come on Benji, you know that you can't win," Selena raised her wand, pointed it straight at Ben "we're just too good for you." Selena snickered as she glared at Ben, knowing exactly what she was going to do now. "Bombardo!" Selena said, full force. She watched to see if Ben would be able to counter it.
Glancing around, Brody saw that Selena had indeed grasped his meaning accurately, and had her wand out at the ready, casting a neat spell in Benjamin's direction. He didn't have a chance to see if it had hit, turning his attention back to the Hufflepuff prefect, who appeared to be glaring coldly at him.
'Surely you don't want to miss out on the fun?' he chuckled, gesturing to the sound of the spell aimed at him being deflected, and though he knew he could have avoided it, he found himself pivoting to wink thankfully at Selena for the defence. The sound of a wand brushing its way lightly through the air made its way to his finely tuned senses, and he span, stepping boredly to the left as her body-bind spell flew past him, jinxing a nearby suit of armour which creaked dismally upon contact.
He chuckled darkly, his own wand outstretched and precariously close to Anna's face as he arched an eyebrow. 'Check?' he smirked, before pulling an expression. 'Oh that truly was a terrible game reference. Who plays Chess?' he shook his head at himself, before flicking his wand and dispelling her surprisingly strong shield charm with one movement, then tapping the hilt of his wand once more and winking at Anna, enjoying the notion of not having to speak the word aloud, and hoping it would catch her off guard. Levicorpus.
Stepping around her, he glanced into the girl's cold and determined eyes. 'So we are more than just a pretty face,' his face was lit up with the enjoyment of the duel, and all could see that he was in one of his fortes as he prowled around their makeshift arena. He took another step, and winked at Selena to show she should do the same, so they were eventually circling the two hufflepuffs. 'Didn't you know that badgers don't come out till nighttime?' he snarled.
Anna felt as if she were powerless. She had known it was not a good idea to step into this conflict, but she had anyway. What had Phil told her? His words definitely did not pop into her head as she tried to mediate the situation. Keeping her head low. The girl fought back the urge to laugh sickly at the now laughable thought. He was going to be so disappointed.
Here she was, in the middle of a hallway duel with a pair of angry Slytherins and Benjamin. He was one of her friends, but he certainly knew how to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Anna smartly decided against saying this out loud. She knew when to keep her mouth shut, and did so. That was, until the taunting resumed.
She was not all that surprised when he avoided her spell. It wasn't complicated or sneaky, something her younger brothers could have dodged. Her mind raced trying to think of something to do when her protective shield seemed to collapse without a problem. This was beginning to be a problem. Before the prefect had time to place her shield up once again, she was thrown in the air.
Brown eyes widened and then began to glare coldly at the caster of the spell. Fantastic, she thought to herself. Nonverbal magic. As the snakes began to circle around Anna and Benjamin she racked her brain for a counter spell, something fairly difficult to do without hearing an incantation. Finding one, and dropping to the ground once more, the prefect put up another shield around herself and her friend.
Dueling was not one of the girl's greatest talent. She was a pacifist, and much preferred using magic for the greater good. She rarely used her wand in defense, much less offense. But that was not to say she could not. She knew of spell, it was the real world practice that she lacked, not knowledge. For all she knew, Benji was the same way and they were very unevenly matched against the other two.
Once again, Brody's words made the Hufflepuff pip up, most likely not the smartest thing in the world. "And snakes should stay in their holes." she added, almost instantaneously regretting it. She held her wand in her hand, acting much braver then she felt. She looked at Benji and nodded, gesturing to Selena. She threw a spell at the girl, attempting to light her robes on fire, praying that Benji do something of the like.

'Anna! Are you giving in to some lowly Slytherin? Is it truly worth the effort?' He spoke up in full force as walked in on the situation. 'Are we Badgers or snakes?' Although pretending to be against violence in any way he had his wand drawn, they were fellow Hufflepuffs. That has to count for something, even with someone like Matthew.
'Brody, what an interesting surprise! Shouldn't you be off flirting with people and cheat on Alina or something?' He looked over his cousin, he did hope he knew this was all a lie to keep up his illusion.
'You know what? You leave them alone, and we'll duel for once, what do you say about that... Cousin? I mean, picking on me and my brother sure, we can handle it. But picking on my fellow Badgers and perhaps friends? not a smart smart move Brody! Not a smart move at all. Please go back to your hole... Or lair, or how you snakes call it...'
Benjamin kept his eyes on Selena, but tried to watch Brody, too. It seemed dangerous, being there with two Slytherins around. He was sure Anna could defend herself, but it still didn't seem fair, in the long run. It was true what some people said; Slytherins were nothing but overly arrogant bullies. He tried not to be so biased against the other houses and had succeeded for the most part, but it was hard not to have a certain dislike for Slytherins when all they ever did was bully him around. The more he stayed at Hogwarts, the more he began to hate those greasy Slytherins.
When Selena held up her wand, Benjamin was ready. Or, rather, almost. He had the protection shield up, but the force of the spell still knocked him back a few steps and nearly caught him off guard. The more he spent time in the dungeons that day, the more he just wanted to crawl into the safety of his common room. But it was too late to back out now. He couldn't exactly take back what he'd said and walking away would just prove foolish, not to mention he didn't want to do that to Anna. It was his fault she was in this mess, after all.
Benjamin caught Anna's gesture and knew that he couldn't resist throwing a spell much longer. They wouldn't stand a chance if he didn't offend as well. Offense wasn't his best practice, but he knew a few curses and hexes that might help. After all, being bullied for being Muggle born called for a need to know a few offense spells. He threw a spell at Brody, also with the intention of lighting his robes on fire.
That's when he heard the third Puff enter. He knew Matthew, had seen him in the common room and in classes a few times. He couldn't deny that the Puff had a rough appearance... but so did Benjamin. Besides, Benji wasn't one to judge based on appearance alone. When Matthew asked if they were badgers or snakes, Benjamin wanted to say that the Slytherins started it, but resisted the urge lest he sound like a first year. It was obvious that Matthew knew Brody, so Benjamin stayed out of it at that moment, not exactly understanding what it was he was saying to the Slytherin, anyway.
As his spell worked, Brody couldn't resist the urge to crouch, resting his palms lightly atop his knees and tilting his head slightly to regard Anna floating idly before him. His face split into a smirk of slight triumph as her cheeks flushed, and she glared at him.
'Now, Miss Michaels, surely your lack of effort is getting a little complacent?' he smirked, knowing that this situation was going to end badly as it was, with the very least sanction being a reduction of house points, and therefore planning to see it through. Turning his attention to face the new Hufflepuff, Brody's eyes almost widened, but he forced them to remain bored and emotionless as he turned his wand upon Matthew. 'Mr Sharpheath.' His face split into a smirk, and he sneered at the boy. 'Why not do us all a favour, and go fail some schoolwork, my Hufflepuff friend?' he chuckled darkly, knowing Matthew wouldn't fall for his act, and would play along.
The spell that Benjamin threw at him was unexpected, and Brody glanced down to see smoke curling from his robes. His eyes glinted with the flame that accompanied it, and he took a moment to calm himself, painfully aware that he was in fact on fire. 'Mr Atwright...' he spoke slowly, turning his eyes upon Benjamin with fake shock. 'You can cast? There's me thinking you're too muggle to do so,' he pulled a smile of sarcastic encouragement onto his face, which turned into a sneer at Anna and Matthew's joint comments.
Shrugging his robes off to reveal a neatly ironed black shirt, with a contrasting white tie, Brody glanced down and straightened his attire, before throwing the flaming robes at Anna's feet and watching as they threatened to set her own uniform alight, raising an eyebrow to watch her reaction.
'Do you not wonder why badgers are so rare?' he arched an eyebrow, his wand at the ready as he silently charged it to send a triple spell, hoping they wouldn't notice the occasional flaring of the tip. 'They're too stupid to defend themselves.' He shrugged, and pulled a sympathetic expression, before there was a crash, and the tip of his wand exploded, sendin a red spell in the direction of each Hufflepuff. Smirking, Brody strode over to Benjamin, and grasped his collar with one hand, pressing the tip of his wand into the boy's neck with the other, knowing the smoke from his spell concealed them both for now as he muttered darkly into the boy's ear. 'Guess who?'

Anna had had about enough of this. She was ready to simply take house points away from the Slytherins and cast a shield charm around Benji and herself and make it to the safety of the common room. Just as she opened her mouth to do so, Matthew appeared.
For some reason, he just rubbed her the wrong way. She was already upset so she choose to simply ignore his comments. She knew where she stood and she didn't need a smarmy classmate to add in comments that sounded like that which would come from a snake like Brody.
As Brody tossed his smoldering robes toward her she calmly uttered a spell, water poring over the fire before it could spread. She frowned at Brody with his latest comment, but again decided against commenting, mentally wishing that he was a real snake and someone had a shovel...
As the smoke filled the corridor she began to cough, and her eyes began to water. She once again uttered a spell calling water to her wand, clearing the space in front of her from the magical smoke, catching her breath. Things kept going from bad to worse.

Striding down the stairs, Drake had a feeling a fight was going on, and had an even stronger feeling that Slytherins would be involved. Therefore, it didn't strike him deep when he saw the unmistakable flash of green robes, nor when the dark smoke crept menacingly around the corner and wrapped itself around his ankles. However, Drake didn't sigh, nor look fearful, as he withdrew his wand. Quite the opposite; he grinned, and stumbled into the middle of the fray, accidentally bumping into another and waving his wand to clear some of the smoke.
'Anna!' he grinned, resisting the urge to hug her in such an innappropriate situation, and spinning on the spot, pointing his wand in the direction of which a new curse had just flown, and sending one back in retaliation. In the path it caused, he saw the face of Selena, and wiggled his fingers in a greeting, before spinning to confront the next intruder. 'Who let the snakes out?' he sang melodically, jutting his shoulder a bit and hitting another Hufflepuff by mistake. 'Sor - BEEEENJAMIIIIIIN!' he cried happily in a drone, repeating the words from the first time they'd met, and punching the boy playfully on the shoulder with a grin. 'Didn't know you were into snake-fighting,' he grinned.
As the smoke cleared a little more, Drake strained his eyes to peer through the wreckage, intent on cursing the next Slytherin he saw. He already knew what curse he was going to use, and clutched his wand in anticipation as he took up a defensive stance. He saw another flash of yellow, but didn't identify his fellow Hufflepuff as the smoke around the other Slytherin's face cleared slowly. Eventually, it was visible, and Drake felt himself pale, his words caught in his throat.
Brody flicked his wand, and Drake was knocked backwards, narrowly missing hitting Anna as he fell, and Brody strode to tower over him, smirk plastered upon his face as he prodded Drake in the forehead with his wand, muttering something about a reunion. Drake's lip trembled as he glared defiantly at Brody, and raised his own wand to point at the Slytherin, and finally managed to speak. 'Leave these guys alone, Brody.'
